Overview
Mindfulness-coaching is based on mindfulness, the practice of being aware and accepting of present moment experiences. It helps people to stop avoiding unpleasant emotions and challenging thoughts, which can help with anxiety and depression.
The goal of mindfulness coaching is to create a new relationship with thoughts, emotions, and body sensations. The therapy teaches people how to remain in their bodies without trying to change or control them in order to find peace within themselves.
Mindfulness coaching therapy has been shown to reduce the symptoms that can be associated with major depression as well as anxiety disorders by becoming more aware of one’s thoughts, feelings, sensations, memories, beliefs about the self and others. This can lead to better relationships between oneself and others.
The potential for mindfulness coaching is limitless, as it can be applied to almost any life challenge or issue – from quitting smoking to coming out of the closet to adopting a plant-based diet.
